NOTE: Prefers to be an only dog; needs life-long medication for respiratory issues.
UPDATE – 10 OCTOBER 2020: Opie has been on his new medication for a little over a week, and has been thriving! He has pep in his step, and is really starting to come out of his shell. He’s spending lots of time outside exploring the yard, enjoying these sunny days. He is on the quieter side (for a beagle), and with his sofa spud personality would do fine in an apartment with daily walks. All he needs is love and a home to call his own furever.
NEW – 28 SEPTEMBER 2020 (from foster mom): Opie is a 4 year old hunk, looking for love. His previous owner acquired him through a Craigslist ad and quickly discovered that he had some health problems. He was quite overweight at 52 pounds and had some serious respiratory issues. He was then surrendered to BREW, where he has received wonderful veterinary care. He has been diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune rhinitis, which causes excessive mucous. Left unchecked it can cause recurrent pneumonia. Fortunately, it can be managed with lifelong anti-inflammatory medication and antibiotics.
