Help Wanted: Foster Homes Desperately Needed

We receive pleas on a daily basis from shelters, animals control officers, vet offices and the
general public asking for assistance in placing beagles in need. Most of the time, the request for
assistance is the dogs last chance…and if we can’t help because of our lack of foster homes, the
beagle usually find his/her life on the line. Unfortunately, we NEVER have enough foster homes.
Please consider becoming a BREW foster home and experience the joy of saving one beagle at a
time in your own home. What a wonderful way to teach your family and friends about giving
back and making the world a better place. The average stay for a beagle in a foster home is two
to three months. Some beagles take longer to place and some are placed shortly after arriving
at their foster home. These sweet little hounds are depending on you to help them in their time
of need…will you be there to provide a temporary home, love, and guidance until their
“FOREVER” home is found?

Adoption Coordinator

Adoption Coordinators work with our applicants to ensure that they are ready for a beagle and
then help them to find the right dog. As a adoption coordinator you will interview applicants,
perform the vet reference checks and then write up the results. Once the applicant is approved
you will work with them to identify possible matches and putting them in touch with the foster
families.

Home Checker

Our home check volunteers will visit homes after the Adoption Coordinator has done the
interview. The home checker is critical to our approval process. As a home checker, you will
make sure that the potential home will be a safe and loving place for an adopted beagle. This is
the last step before an applicant receives approval to adopt.

Transporter

BREW has to move a lot of dogs all over the mid-Atlantic. We try to do this in relay fashion so
no one transporter has to do a long drive. But you know what? Sometimes there are long rides
that get beagles out of a desperate situation. Giving a dog its freedom ride is indescribable!
