Inga – Adoption Pending

About Me

Meet Inga
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 5-6 Years

Estimated Weight:  22 Pounds

UPDATE – 28 MAY 2021: Sweet Inga is now in a foster home. Here is a report from her foster mom:

Inga is a real sweetheart who is always down for some fun. She is having a blast wrestling with the other two playful beagles in the house.. All the while, the 4th beagle, Ruby sits and stares with her big judgy eyes. Occasionally, when Ruby growls to tell the trio of wrestlers to calm down, Inga barks at her a few times—probably telling her to chill out! It’s kind of hilarious. Inga is curious and agile! Don’t let her frosty face full you, this girl has loads of spunk.

Inga is picking up on bedtime crating– now going in after a treat on her own. She still needs a little help to get into her crate when we go to work, and part of that problem may be we have separate crates in the downstairs for work days which we haven’t had to use very often. She will catch on! At first when we crated her she would cry a little and paw at the bars for around 5 minutes but then she would be quiet. She has not been doing that the last few times.

When Inga naps, her little tongue sticks out and it’s adorable. We still have to practice some leash walking skills, so I will update about that soon. House training is going well and she has even pawed at the door to go out. She will need a secure backyard and to be monitored closely. She hasn’t tried to climb the fence, but she has tried to dig at the bottom of it. We have a 5 foot picket fence, and she is very interested in getting into the front yard, especially if a human is out there. I did spend a day this week adding some extra wire to the bottom which has stopped this behavior—she even helped me (see uploaded photo of Inga helping measure a section of wire!!). Also be very careful about opening doors/gates as she tries to come with you! Upon reentering, do so carefully as she is often waiting for you right on the other side!

Inga doesn’t know what a stranger is– she is so friendly and loves affection. She requests that you please let her be your lap dog where she is close enough to reach your face for kisses. Inga would like to have regular play dates if she is an only dog. I am telling you that she can wrestle for hours a day with the others—her little pounce on top of the others plus her perfectly pitched beagle AROOO is better than Netflix. Check out this video of wrestlemania at our home: Inga Wrestlemania. Inga is the one in the video wrestling with the tan pup.

I’ve tried tossing toys for her, and although she likes to carry or even bury toys around somewhat, she isn’t overly enthused about fetch. She will run to the toy and then walk away from it most times! She will sometimes try to bury a toy. Inga burying a toy

Inga is having a great time, living the life where there are plenty of snacks, a lap to snuggle and beagle wrestlemania can happen all day long.

NEW – 27 APRIL 2020: Inga and her puppies were surrendered to BREW when the owner didn’t want them. The puppies have all been adopted, and now it is Inga’s time to find a home. She is very friendly and not very big. We still need to give her some time to recuperate after dealing with all of her puppies, but she should be available sometime late May/early June.

Q:  Can you tell me more about a specific dog?  Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?

A:  What we know is in the write up.  Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited.  Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.

Q:  Can I meet a specific dog?

A:  We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs.  Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.

Q:  How can I adopt a specific dog?

A:  You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt.  You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there..  It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you.  Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime.  But we are always getting new dogs.   You can see them on our website.

Q:  Can I add another dog to the list on my application?

A:  We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application.  It gives us an idea of what you are looking for.  Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.

Q:  I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted.  What happened?

A:  We do not hold dogs.  Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved.  But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
