About Me
Meet Lion
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 1-2 Years (born with BREW 11/9/21).
Estimated Weight: 46 Pounds
UPDATE - 28 MAY 2023: Lion is an absolute joy to be around. We cannot sing his praises loud enough to express what a great guy he is. At almost 50lbs, he definitely favors his foxhound DNA more than his beagle side. He is quiet and has a big dog bark rather than the beagle bay. He is friendly and outgoing. He is a hugger. Lion has lived previously with older, dog-savvy children. However, Lion likes to give the best puppy hugs and will need close supervision with smaller children since he has a tendency to jump up for his hugs (we are working on this).
Lion is housetrained with a dog door, and he loves to lounge in the yard. He almost always has a stuffie in his mouth that he walks around with as he patrols his domain. His bark might scare off an intruder, until they see how adorable he is with his duckie. He is a sweet, sensitive couch cuddler. He gets along with other dogs but would be fine as an only dog as well. If you are looking for a wonderful friend to share your life (and your sofa) with, look no further!
NEW - 9 APRIL 2023: Lion, of the Oz Puppies, finds himself back with BREW. His family isn't able to keep him due to unforeseen health circumstances - they were sad to have to send him back. DNA on his sibling (Scarecrow) revealed that the Oz puppies are about 50% beagle and 50% American foxhound - he gets his size from his foxhound side. Lion is a gentle, sensitive boy - so young children or an active house is not for him. He is doing great in his foster home with two adults and lots of dogs! Lion loves to play with the others and run in the yard. He can be a challenge to walk (he is getting better) and since he loves the yard, he will need a backyard. Lion is house trained, and he isn't destructive. He is cat tested and approved.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
