"Getting into Trouble Has Never Been So Much Fun!" Meet Trouble: Big Paws, Gentle Heart, Pure Joy
If the classic board game taught us anything, it’s that getting into Trouble really is the most fun you can have, and this handsome pup proves it every single day! Part of the spirited "game-themed" litter born in rescue on June 3 to mamma Liliana, Trouble was the big, clever boy who figured out doggy doors almost before he could run. Now around 14 weeks old and tipping the scales at a sturdy 22 pounds, he is growing into a handsome hound with adorable, oversized paws that make him trot around like a tiny Clydesdale. He is goofy, deeply loyal, and has already mastered the art of sleeping completely belly-up without a care in the world.
Trouble is sharp as a tack and eager to please. Like any curious, growing puppy, he loves having things to gnaw on, but he is remarkably polite about sticking to his own chew toys, especially if a tasty treat is involved! He is making stellar progress with house-training when kept on a consistent routine, and he settles down nicely in his crate after just a brief initial whimper. While he is still figuring out leash walking and approaches it with cautious hesitation, he already shows fantastic natural recall off-leash in safe spaces like the dog park. Plus, unlike the stereotypical noisy hound, Trouble saves his voice strictly for playtime; the rest of the time, he is a wonderfully quiet, easygoing companion.
True to his friendly hound nature, Trouble gets along famously with other dogs and follows the lead of his foster brothers with joyful enthusiasm. While he might take a couple of seconds to observe new human friends, he warms up into a wiggly cuddlebug almost instantly and has done wonderfully with children of all ages. He hasn't met a cat yet, but his gentle, playful demeanor suggests he’d likely just want to make another friend. More than anything, Trouble is the kind of boy who will curl right into your lap after a fun play session and look up at you with utter devotion.

Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
