About Me
-
Chaos is super cute as you can tell by his photos. He is the one with the mostly brown face. He looks like he could be a beagle/whippet mix. He is tall and thin with a long narrow face and small eyes. (Like a whippet, he runs really fast too!) He and Beauregard (resident beagle) love to play chase! He tries to play fetch with Porter (another resident dog), but Porter is bigger and usually gets the ball or the Frisbee. However, Chaos still seems to love romping around and trying to catch the ball or Frisbee. When the doggie door is open, Chaos is totally house trained! There has been an occasional accident when I have had to close the doggie door (usually due to excessive barking by one or all of the dogs) but I don’t know who was the culprit… Again, I don’t know if Chaos will potty on a leash because I don’t know how he does on a leash. Hopefully, we will figure that out soon now that the weather is getting nicer. Chaos is a super sweet dog looking for his forever home. He would probably do best with another dog because he seems to be more comfortable with other friends around. I am not sure how he does around children. Despite his name, Chaos does not like chaos or fast movements or loud noises. He likes to lounge around and chill, but he can also be high energy and run around the yard with his foster brothers. UPDATE - 19 FEBRUARY 2019: Chaos is a very sweet, shy, timid boy. He looks like he could possibly be part beagle, part whippet mix. He is tall and thin and has a very narrow, long nose with small brown eyes. His ears are a little bit less floppy than a typical beagles too. He is super cute and super sweet. He is very shy but is making progress! When he first came to my house, he was so terrified of me that he would pee if I approached him. He is making a lot of progress. He loves to snuggle and be pet. It seems like he still gets nervous of me when I am standing up, but if I am sitting or lying down, he does better. He likes to eat his meals in the living room on the love seat. He gets nervous if I am walking around near him when he is eating. For the most part, he is house trained, but there have been a couple of piddle accidents. I have been leaving the doggie door open. He has not been an attempted escape artist at all. I am not sure how he is at walking on a leash. Before when I would approach him with a leash, he would get scared and pee. Now that he is getting braver and more confident, we are going to try walking him on a leash again. He is good with other dogs. He and the resident beagle love to run and chase. He does the funniest thing with my Aussie, when they are playing, he likes to stick his head in my Aussie’s mouth. He is good with my cat and never chases him. I am not sure how he does with children. He may do well because he seems to prefer me when I am on his level, but he gets so nervous, children might make him more nervous. Now that he is getting braver and hopefully the weather will be getting warmer, we will be able to go for walks around the neighborhood and see how he does.NEW - 29 OCTOBER 2018: Chaos is 2-year-old neutered male beagle who is a little submissive and cautious around people but great with other dogs. He weighs just under 30 pounds. He wags his tail when you sit and talk with him, and he enjoys scratches under his neck and chest. He would most likely do best in a home with another dog. He was a stray in Amelia County, Virginia, so his history is unknown. He will be available soon for fostering or adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
