About Me
Meet Alice Faye
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 8 Years
Estimated Weight: 21 Pounds
UPDATE - 26 JANUARY 2023 (from Alice herself, with a little help from her foster mom): Hi all! My name is Alice Fae, but they call me Alfie. Alice Fae seems so formal for a silly little girl like me! I am not quite available for adoption yet because we are still waiting to get me in to the doggie dentist, but I thought I would go ahead and introduce myself awhile.
I am a super sweet, super silly, spunky little older beagle. I am super friendly and I LOVE attention! I love to snuggle with my foster mom and I always make her laugh because I roll over onto my back to get belly and chest rubs, and then I have a hard time rolling back over. My foster mom says I look like a little turtle stuck on my back. I get along great with my foster brothers and sister. When we play I bark a little bit, but I am not an excessive barker. I have the cutest little beagle bay. That is another thing about me that cracks up my foster mom. She describes it as sounding like an old dust buster running out of its battery charge. Me and the resident beagles love to romp around in the back yard, and I keep up with them even though I am only half their size. We also snuggle together. I probably don’t need another dog in the house. Sometimes I prefer to just hang out with my foster mom. (plus, she is the one with the treats!)
I take treats pretty gently. It takes me a lot longer to eat treats than the resident chow hounds, but that is probably because I am waiting to see the doggie dentist. I am not food aggressive and I eat my meals right next to my foster sister. She will sometimes come over and help me finish my meals, and I let her. I like to dance around the room when our meals are getting prepared!
I also get along with the resident cat. He has swatted at me a couple of times, but I hear he does that to all beagles to let them know that he is in charge. I have not been around kids, but I would probably do fine with kids because I don’t have a mean bone in this little body!
I am still working on my house training. When I do have an accident inside, I am pretty good at piddling on a pee pad. When I piddle, I sometimes walk around a little bit so sometimes I walk off of the pee pad. My foster mom is really trying to work with me and reward me with a treat after I piddle outside. (I prefer to get a treat just for going downstairs and not always go outside. It’s cold out there on these little toes!!!)
I have not gone into a crate, and I am not sure if I would like it or not. I also don’t know how I would do if I was left all alone. But like I said before, I am not much of a barker, and I am also not much of a chewer. I do like to try to get into mischief and will sometimes try to get to things on the counter. but I am so small, I can rarely get into mischief. I think my last weight was 21 pounds.
I can’t wait to find my forever family! If you are looking for a smaller, older beagle who still has a lot of spunk and is super sweet and silly, I can’t wait to meet you!
UPDATE - 3 DECEMBER 2022: If you are looking for an older gal with plenty of spunk, this is the girl for you! Alice Faye went to a foster home today, so we will be learning more about her soon!
UPDATE - 22 OCTOBER 2022: Alice Faye is now fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption. She is a little older, but she has lots of happy energy!
NEW - 2 OCTOBER 2022: Meet Alice Faye! She’s a super sweet, older beagle girl who tilts her head when you talk to her. She’s friendly and good with other dogs. She was a stray at the Louisa County Animal Shelter in Virginia, so her history is unknown. She will be available soon.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
