About Me
Meet Ashlyn
Status: Living at our private kennel
Estimated Age: 2-3 Years
Estimated Weight: 29 Pounds
UPDATE - 8 NOVEMBER 2024: Ashlyn has the sad honor of being at the kennels longer than any of the other dogs. We have had Ashlyn at the kennels since June 2023! She does have a lot of energy, but she is the sweetest, happiest girl! She came to Beaglefest today and raced around the dog park the entire time. She happily stopped for human pets and affection, but then she would take off again to join the other beagles who were also racing around the park. She had a blast! Ashlyn needs a home where she can get plenty of exercise and training to learn how to rein in some of her energy. She is still available for fostering or adoption.
UPDATE - 8 JUNE 2024: Ashlyn has lived in our kennels for about year. Ashlyn came to today's adoption event but is still looking for a foster or furever home. She is very sweet and likes people, including older children, but she is strong and needs some training to be the great pet she is destined to be. She would do great as an only dog. We know the right home for Ashlyn is out there somewhere. Several people have asked about her mix, so we did a DNA test on her: 75% Beagle!!! The rest is pure mutt - some Coonhound and a variety of what the DNA testers label as Supermutt (percentages are too small to distinguish a breed). Ashyln wants everyone to know she has NO Pitt Bull in her!!!
UPDATE - 3 JUNE 2024: Ashlyn has been with us a long time - almost a year. She has attended several Adoption Days, but no one has been interested. Her sister was adopted a long time ago, but pretty Ashlyn is still looking for a foster or forever home. Come meet Ashlyn at our June 8th Adoption Day in Springfield, VA!
UPDATE - 12 AUGUST 2023: Ashlyn was able to join us at today's adoption event and had a blast! This girl has a ton of energy! She needs some training and would love to find a family who can give her plenty of exercise.
NEW - 21 JUNE 2023: Ashlyn and Aaliyah were given up to BREW by a hunter because they didn't hunt well. Fortunately, they both seem to have been well fed. Ashlyn gets along well with other dogs. She is fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
