NEW - 23 AUGUST 2025: Meet The Baltimore Bandit! This handsome, gentle soul is a true Beagle through and through, and a perfect gentleman in every way. Bandit came to us from a loving family who had to make the difficult decision to surrender him, but he hasn't let that dim his spirit one bit. He's been the perfect houseguest, and we’ve quickly learned he's the ultimate companion. My husband has even dubbed him his "shadow" because he loves being by your side and is clearly happiest when he is the center of your world.
Bandit is the best of both worlds—a relaxed cuddle bug who loves to nap, and a playful adventurer ready for zoomies in the yard or a long walk. He's a total pro on the leash and a joy to walk with, even alongside other dogs. He's a smart boy who already knows all his basic commands and is eager to please.
In the house, Bandit is a dream. He is fully house-trained and trustworthy to be left alone, as he doesn't chew on anything but his own toys. He's a quiet guy who rarely barks until he sees your car roll into the driveway! He usually prefers to express his happiness with a happy wag and whine. He has excellent house manners and has even mastered a doggy door and stairs. While he may test boundaries (one of his past fosters that was watching him when we were out of town noted he immediately tried to jump on a dining room table to check for treats!), with a gentle "no," he understood and didn't try again.
He is incredibly friendly and gets along famously with everyone he meets—dogs, cats, and even kids! He loves to play, often grabbing his canine friends' faces with his paws for a playful kiss. After a day of romping around, you can find him curled up on the couch for ear and belly rubs or sleeping soundly in bed with you, as he's a true cuddle bug at heart. He is a little nervous in the car, and will sometimes whine on the way to a new place, but he adjusts quickly once he arrives.
Bandit is an amazing boy who is ready to give his whole heart to his new family. Could that be you?
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
