About Me
Meet Daisy
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 1-2 Years
Estimated Weight: 22 Pounds
UPDATE - 18 OCTOBER 2022 (from foster family): Daisy continues to learn the benefits of living in a home. She’s potty trained now and does well on a leash, especially for a power walker, as she sniffs power style!
Daisy might do best with another playful pup, as our dog Charlie is too lame and gets annoyed with her. She’s also fine on her own with toys.
She’s amazing with a crate. Daisy will happily enter her crate and doesn’t bark continuously (I have an app that monitors that). She’s great with overnight, too. She will sleep as long as you do.
Daisy is super soft and just wants attention and love. She does bark a lot, at everyone. However, when I put a bark collar on her, she knows what it is and immediately decides to take it down a notch! She’s smart! We will continue to work on this.
UPDATE - 3 OCTOBER 2022: Miss Daisy is off to a new foster home today! Let's find this girl her forever home!
UPDATE - 22 SEPTEMBER 2022: Daisy and Ruckus were adopted together in July, but their new owner had to return them both to BREW this month when he felt he could not properly care for them due to long work hours. Both dogs are currently being boarded at A Dog's Day Out in Springfield, VA, where we oftentimes have adoption events. We hope we can find them new foster homes or permanent homes soon. They do not need to be adopted together. Here is what the previous owner had to say about Daisy:
Daisy is an energetic young beagle. At the same time, she can also be a sweet cuddlebug. One of my favorite things about her is how she often rested her head on my shoulder when being held. She likely needs the companionship of another dog. When on her own, or simply not playing with a friend, she can have a destructive side. Her owner should have plenty of toys for her to chew on or she'll claim a shoe, sofa cushion or something else. She can be a bit of a diva when it comes to meal time. I mixed in some wet food with the dry so she would eat it all and not leave some behind. She loves going for walks. She will bark at most humans and every dog she sees. This proved to be difficult in a suburban neighborhood. Her bark has the sound of aggression, but she just wants attention. She has a hard time holding her bladder in the morning, so when she gets up you don't have much time to get her outside if you want to avoid an accident. She is very playful and loves belly rubs.
UPDATE - 5 JULY 2022 (from foster mom): Daisy has only been here a couple of days and has learned the doggie door. She does have a little anxiety and can be a little vocal when you leave, so she probably would not do well in an apartment. However, this may get better with time as she adjusts to a new environment. When she first arrived, she was standoffish, but now she has made new friends with the resident dogs and plays quite well with them. Every time I try to video her playing, she stops and runs to me! Silly girl.
NEW - 3 JULY 2022: Daisy is a younger beagle girl who is super sweet and friendly. She’s house trained but doesn’t really like being in a crate. As a puppy, she was in a home with a small child as support, but the child was afraid of her. She then ended up in a home with a college student who now has to move and can’t find a place that allows pets. Daisy is now with BREW and looking for her forever home. She’s a bit clingy at the moment but is doing well in her foster home. She has been an only dog but is getting used to living with other dogs while in her foster home. Daisy is fully vetted and available for adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
