About Me
Meet Dillon
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 3-5 Years
Estimated Weight: 28 Pounds
UPDATE - 13 FEBRUARY 2025 (from foster family): Dillon is a loving, affectionate, gentle adult beagle who has adapted wonderfully to his foster home. He is already crate trained and hasn't had any accidents in the house. He and his foster sister love going out on sniffaris together, using their beagle noses to smell everything and anything, then enjoying some playtime together at the dog park. He has a strong beagle howl that comes out when he gets excited -- usually outside when he spots friends or a nefarious scooter. At home, he enjoys napping throughout the day -- always in close proximity of his foster parents -- playing with squeaky toys or chewing on chew toys. We are working on learning basic commands like sit and come, and to overcome his habit of howling when alone. He is highly food and treat-motivated therefore training should be a fast learner. Dillon would be a great addition to anyone seeking a loyal sidekick!
UPDATE - 25 JANUARY 2025: Cheers for Dillon! Dillon found a foster home and is finally out of our kennels after almost a year with BREW! He is nice boy, so let's see how he does with his new foster family. Stay tuned!
UPDATE - 19 OCTOBER 2024: Dillon came to our Adoption Day today and made friends with every human he met! This boy is a love and would go from person to person to get attention. He is very sweet! He can be noisy, so we're not sure he would do well in an apartment or townhouse. Our adoption events are held at a doggie daycare business, and he would bark at some of the non-beagles coming to the daycare facility. Otherwise, he seemed comfortable about everything going on around him. The good news is that Dillon's brother, Bryce, was adopted today. Now we need to find a home for Dillon. Hang in there, buddy!
UPDATE - 28 SEPTEMBER 2024: Dillon and his brother, Bryce, were in a foster home for a short amount of time and were adopted, but both have since been returned to BREW when the adoption fell through due to unexpected health issues of the adopter. Dillon's original foster mom moved, so he is back to looking for a foster home or adopter. Dillon would be fine in a home with or without other dogs. His foster mom mentioned that Dillon was fairly chill while with her but would occasionally be spooked by a loud noise. He is back at our kennels while he continues to wait for a new foster home or his forever home.
UPDATE - 2 JUNE 2024: Good news - Dillon went off to a foster home today! Stay tuned as we learn more about his nice pup.
NEW - 20 FEBRUARY 2024: Dillon and his brother, Bryce, came to BREW as strays from the Louisa County Animal Shelter in Virginia. They are nice boys who get along well together. Since they were strays, we don't know their history. Dillon and Bryce are available for fostering or adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
