Meet Majestic (Special Needs)
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 4-5 Years
Estimated Weight: 25 Pounds
NOTE: Special Needs - hip issues that may require life-long pain medications; fenced yard preferred.
UPDATE - 21 JANUARY 2023: Majestic was recently diagnosed with a past pelvic injury affecting her hips. She is now on a daily low dose pain management regimen and has responded really well. She is building experience and increasingly enjoys walks. Her favorite thing continues to be sitting right next to her people on the couch!
She is a cheerful, sweet, beautiful beagle girl who aims to please!
UPDATE - 31 DECEMBER 2022: Majestic is full of sweetness and affection. She loves human touch and yearns to be a lap dog (or at very least, snuggled up next to you on the dog friendly couch).
She is house-trained and is comfortable for a limited time in the crate.
She needs a fenced yard since she is not yet an enthusiastic walker. We are making progress on leash walking, but she likes to go at her own pace and doesn't like to be rushed.
Majestic might benefit from a mentor dog because she can be hesitant and slow to warm up to new sounds and experiences.
She conscientiously patrols the backyard, baying in response to neighborhood barkers and night noises. She is a beauty and has a gentle temperament.
UPDATE - 17 DECEMBER 2022 (from foster family): Majestic is a beautiful beagle girl who is becoming more accustomed to life in the suburbs. Her leash walking skills are improving as she builds experience. She is a cuddlebug and loves to be scratched and have her belly rubbed. Majestic loves hanging out on her big soft dog bed but is comfortable in a crate. She relieves herself on walks and in the fenced backyard. She has not had an accident in the house since coming here (2 weeks).
Majestic is very excited by fox scents in the neighborhood and is somewhat fearful of unfamiliar noises, especially when outside at night. She would benefit from a home with a mentor dog who could help her to feel more secure.
UPDATE - 3 DECEMBER 2022: Majestic is now in a foster home, so we will be learning more about her soon!
UPDATE - 2 DECEMBER 2022: Majestic is now fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption.
NEW - 13 NOVEMBER 2022: Majestic is a pretty beagle girl who is friendly and good with other dogs. She was a stray at the Louisa County Animal Shelter in Virginia, so her history is unknown. She will be available soon.

Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
