Pogo

About Me

Meet Pogo
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 2 Years

Estimated Weight: 30 Pounds

UPDATE – 13 APRIL 2021 (from foster family): Pogo, this fine upstanding young man, is a great admirer of the human culture: the car rides, the television, the soft beds, the string quartets playing Brahms. Pogo tries very hard to do what is expected of him, to keep the house clean, to climb up and down the stairs, to not grab food off counters, and to get along with the other dogs. Pogo is an ace cuddler and will sprawl across you. He has a great goofy grin and a sense of humor to match, he is so fun. He will pee and poop while on the leash and is a pleasure to take on forest hikes. Pogo has a great, bellowing bark; although he quiets easily he may not be ideal for apartment life. On walks in the neighborhood, we see how Pogo got his name, when he sees other dogs, he jumps on his hind legs: boing! boing! boing! Pogo is an energetic boy who loves to play. He would benefit from a fenced yard to get his zoomies out.

UPDATE – 10 APRIL 2021: Pogo went off to a foster home today, so stay tuned as we learn more about this lean, young boy!

UPDATE – 31 MARCH 2021: Pogo is now fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption.

NEW – 22 FEBRUARY 2021: Pogo, along with Styx, came to BREW from the Greensville County Animal Shelter in Virginia where he was dropped off by an owner who didn’t want him (possibly a hunter). We are guessing he lived outside all his life. Pogo is a friendly, lanky boy who does well with other dogs. He was a little noisy when we first picked him up from the shelter, but he was very quiet during the transport. Pogo still needs to be vetted, but he will be available soon.

Questions?

Q:  Can you tell me more about a specific dog?  Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?

A:  What we know is in the write up.  Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited.  Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.

Q:  Can I meet a specific dog?

A:  We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs.  Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.

Q:  How can I adopt a specific dog?

A:  You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt.  You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there..  It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you.  Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime.  But we are always getting new dogs.   You can see them on our website.

Q:  Can I add another dog to the list on my application?

A:  We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application.  It gives us an idea of what you are looking for.  Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.

Q:  I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted.  What happened?

A:  We do not hold dogs.  Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved.  But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
