About Me
-
Status: FosteredEstimated Age: 7 YearsEstimated Weight: 32 Pounds
- UPDATE - 7 APRIL 2020 (from foster mom): Reiko started his first day with us a bit unsure of everything, but he has been gaining a lot of confidence and coming out of his shell as he’s gotten more comfortable. He is eager to please and is learning fast about living in a house. He behaves really well on a leash and doesn’t pull, even if he finds something interesting to sniff. He is so quiet, polite and gentle, and he loves to cuddle! I think one of his favorite things in the world would be to curl up on the couch with his person and quietly snore while they watch TV.
- He has been either completely fine or not interested in the other dogs in the apartment complex that we have met from a distance. There is one dog he doesn’t like. They both were startled when a third party opened the door between them and they were really close to each other. The other dog barked and growled at Reiko, and he barked back. Reiko came with me easily and was fine once we walked away. We haven’t seen the other dog again, but it will be interesting to see how Reiko reacts when we do.
- UPDATE - 4 APRIL 2020: We are THRILLED to let you know that Reiko has finally found himself a foster home. This boy has been in our kennels for way too long, so let's see how he does living in a home where he can get the love and attention he deserves.
- UPDATE - 26 AUGUST 2019: Reiko has now been living at our kennels for 10 months. This poor guy doesn't look much like a beagle, so he gets overlooked. He is a very gentle soul. He is quiet and lives peacefully with all of the other dogs at the kennels. To our knowledge, he has never even growled at another dog at the kennels, so we are still unsure what happened during his very brief stay at a foster home. Reiko is a nice boy who deserves a home. If you are looking for a quiet, low-key boy who is unlikely to give you any trouble, Reiko is the boy for you.
- UPDATE - 8 JANUARY 2019: We were a little surprised when Reiko went off to a foster home but didn't get along with one of the resident dogs. We're not exactly sure who started the scuffle. He is back at our kennels and is getting along fine with the other dogs. He seems so gentle! He is a quiet boy who is very good with humans. He just needs a quiet, peaceful home where he can settle down and enjoy the rest of his life.
- NEW - 1 NOVEMBER 2018: Reiko is a 6-year-old neutered male beagle mix who is super sweet, reserved and good with other dogs. He weighs about 32 pounds. He is very loyal and attuned to his person. He thinks he’s a lap dog and loves to give kisses! He was a stray from Green County in Virginia, so his history is unknown.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
