UPDATE - 30 JULY 2026: Sox (aka Juneau) is Growing Fast and Ready to Hit the Trails!

Juneau is getting big! This handsome boy has officially hit the 19-pound mark, and while he is certainly growing like a weed, he has kept his gorgeous, unique coat and his brave, ready-for-anything spirit. He is thriving, curious, and growing into an absolutely spectacular young dog. His vibrant personality shines brighter every day, and he is proving to be the fiercely loyal, adventurous companion we always knew he would be.

When it comes to training, Juneau's sharp mind is really showing off! He is fully crate trained and recently mastered the art of the dog door. He already knows how to "sit," "lay down," and understands "no." Like a typical male pup hitting that goofy teenage phase, he’s exploring his boundaries… which currently includes some classic puppy “mounting behaviors” and putting the final polish on his indoor house-training routine, but he is highly intelligent and responds wonderfully to guidance. He is also starting to find his big-boy voice, though he is quite polite about it and only speaks up when he really has something to say!

But Juneau’s absolute favorite thing in the world? Water! We keep a kiddie pool clean and filled for him at all times, and he just can't get enough of it, as you can see from this video: Sox loving his pool

Beyond the backyard, he is proving to be a true hiker’s dream. In an incredibly rare trait for his hound heritage, Juneau is actually trustworthy off-lead at a dog park! He has a fantastic recall and loves to stick close to his people. When he isn't exploring the park, he is showing off his excellent socialization skills, respecting boundaries, and playing beautifully with his beagle foster brothers, Toby and Bentley, as well as any other dogs he meets.

Ultimately, Juneau is an incredibly adaptable pup who would thrive in almost any environment, provided he gets the attention and love he craves. He is so deeply loyal that his primary goal in life is simply to be by your side. If you are looking for a trustworthy, adventure-ready best friend who will hike with you all day and happily snooze at your feet all night, Juneau is your boy!

The Call of the Wild: Meet Sox (we call him Juneau), Your Ultimate Adventure Buddy!

Born in mid-April to a sweet beagle momma named Roxy, this handsome pup (originally known as Sox from his litter) has earned a very special new name: Juneau. Just like the beautiful Alaskan city, Juneau embodies a spirited love for the great outdoors! He is a one-of-a-kind, perfect blend of Beagle, Australian Cattle Dog, American Foxhound, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, and Siberian Husky. This spectacular DNA mix has created a brave, independent, and incredibly loyal companion who is already proving to be the ultimate outdoor enthusiast.

Juneau is a true water dog at heart! He absolutely loves splashing around, going for long walks, and soaking up every ounce of nature. Whether you're setting up the camper at a state park or exploring a new local trail, he is ready to be right by your side. In fact, his unique breed blend has made him remarkably reliable on a long lead, he prefers to stay close and loyal to his people rather than bolting off to follow a scent. He is a fiercely adventurous and curious boy who isn't afraid of anything the world throws at him. Yet, at the end of a long day of exploring and chewing on his favorite toys, his absolute favorite thing to do is cuddle up close with you.

At around three months old, Juneau is already making fantastic strides with his puppy skills. He is doing wonderfully with his crate training (he actually loves his crate, which is a rare and wonderful bonus!), and he is getting the hang of house training, reliably doing his business outside on command while he masters the routine. While he is still learning that a leash is his friend, his bravery and smarts mean he'll be a pro in no time. He is wonderfully gentle with kids and gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes, only letting out a happy, vocal bark when he is spectacularly excited and wrestling with his beagle foster brothers, Toby and Bentley.

Because of his amazing blend of working, sporting, and hound breeds, Juneau is looking for an active, loving family that shares his zest for life. While a fenced yard is always a wonderful bonus, his famously loyal nature means it isn't a strict requirement like it might be for a typical beagle. If you are looking for a playful, confident, and cuddly sidekick to share your camping trips, water days, and everyday adventures, Juneau is packing his bags and ready to go!
