About Me
Meet Tauvia
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 4-5 Years
Estimated Weight: 23 Pounds
UPDATE - 21 FEBRUARY 2024: Tauvie continues to charm everyone in her foster home. She learned the doggie door in no time flat, to the amazement of the resident dogs who remain in fear of it. Tauvia has also proven herself to be the fastest apple slice eater this side of the Mississippi. This is a great little dog who is fun to walk, quiet in the house, a seeker of play time and cuddle time.
UPDATE - 30 JANUARY 2024: This week Vaunnie visited the dog park where she could commune with her spirit animals, children. She was delighted to receive attention, love, and belly rubs from kids from age 7 to pre-teen. Vaunnie was so gentle with the children. She has emitted the occasional growl at her foster sibs when they approach while she is getting attention from her humans, but the other dogs think it's cute.
UPDATE - 17 JANUARY 2024: Tauvia is now in a foster home. Here is an initial report from her foster family:
When Tauvia entered her foster home, a collective gasp was heard from resident humans and canines alike: never had such a joyful, positive, not to mention cute, presence arrived. Tail wagging furiously, pure delight in her thrilled grin, Tauvia made immediate friends with her foster brothers and sister. They were eager to pull her in to the beagle pile, warming each other with chins on backs. Tauvia relishes each moment of her life- getting her ears cleaned, basking on a bed, taking a walk in the neighborhood while giant snowflakes land on her back, eating her meals and sharing snacks with the other dogs who welcome her to their food bowls which they have never done with another dog. Tauvia is so proud of herself when she figures something out like how to use the stairs to the human bed or how to get in and out of the sunroom. Of course, she is never too busy for a belly rub or a cuddle in the rocking chair. This little girl is house-savvy with only a couple potty accidents her first night. She is quiet and while she has high energy, Tauvia has not chewed on or destroyed anything. She will stay in a crate (unhappily) if necessary but she is also safe to have the run of the house.
NEW - 21 DECEMBER 2023: Tauvia is a super sweet beagle girl who came to BREW with Tawnie, who is likely her sister. Tauvia is fairly submissive. She was introduced to a toddler and was super sweet, gentle and rolled over on her back for a belly rub. Tauvie was a stray from the Louisa County Animal Shelter in Virginia, so her history is unknown. She’s fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
