About Me
Waffles
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 3-4 Years
Estimated Weight: 23 Pounds
UPDATE - 26 AUGUST 2024: Waffles, originally thought to be around 1 year old, has recently been confirmed by a vet to be closer to 3-4 yrs old. She is a super sweet little girl who loves all people and dogs! She has settled into our home quite nicely and is doing well with potty training. Waffles willingly goes into her crate at night and sleeps quietly until the morning. A bit of an athlete, Waffles can jump our 4ft fence with ease, and will therefore require a tall fence or a tether when outside. Luckily, she loves to go on walks and explore the neighborhood! Waffles would love to be in a home with another playful dog or kids willing to play with her! She is an ideal candidate for a family looking for a young, playful, sweet dog! Check out these two videos of this playful pup:
UPDATE - 12 AUGUST 2024: What a cutie! This silly girl went off to a foster home today and is stealing hearts! While waiting for her transport to her foster home, she spent some time in a fenced yard doing zoomies with one of the resident beagles and charming the humans who were there. She is now in her foster home, and her foster mom reports that she is good on a leash and appears to be housebroken. She is doing great with the kids in the home, but she did manage to get over a 4' fence to check out the neighbor's dog. She is a flirt and will steal your husband or boyfriend in a heartbeat!
UPDATE - 9 AUGUST 2024: Waffles is now fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption.
NEW - 6 AUGUST 2024: Waffles is a tan and white beagle girl who was a stray from Buckingham County in Virginia. She had been picked up on the road by a family and reported to Animal Control, but the local shelter had no room for her. She stayed with the family until BREW could take her. She is friendly, good with other dogs, and she did well with the small children who lived at the house. She also did well with housetraining while she was there. They could not keep her, so she ended up with BREW. Waffles still needs to see our vet and will be available soon.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
