About Me
- Meet Scout
- UPDATE - 16 FEBRUARY 2019: Scout is now in a foster home, and he and his new foster family were able to join us at our adoption event today. Scout is all beagle! He is a happy boy with a loud beagle bay that lets everyone know he is available for attention. Scout has been with his foster family for a week, and this is what they have to say about him: Scout is a happy boy who loves the back yard where he can sniff and run and have a great time with whatever other dogs and people are available, even in the rain. He can be noisy, especially if any squirrels dare enter his territory, so we have to limit his time outside. He comes when called and will sit without command, as long as no squirrels are grabbing his attention. When Scout is on a leash, he does well - pulls a little when a squirrel is nearby, but generally okay. He might benefit from a front-clip harness. Scout has been getting along just fine with our other dogs and cats. He does well with children. So far, Scout has had no accidents in the house. Scout also does well in his crate, where he sleeps during the night. One night he slept on the couch and did just fine. He will go into the crate on his own and seems to be very comfortable there, so we have been leaving the crate door open for Scout to come and go as he pleases. Scout is a lap dog, so he is happy hanging out with his humans at the end of a long day. So far, the only challenges Scout presents are that he needs to be monitored to make sure he doesn't jump up on counters. He can also be possessive of his toys. He will growl if someone tries to take a toy away from him, so he would need to be monitored closely around very young children. Scout can also get car sick, so it may be best to transport him in a crate. Overall, Scout is a wonderful boy who will make a great family pet. He has spent his life in a home, so he comes with the added benefit of being used to living in a house. Please let BREW know if you are interested in meeting this happy boy!
- NEW - 4 FEBRUARY 2019: Scout was surrendered to our vet when his owner was no longer able to care for him due to the owner's health issues. BREW is now helping to find a new home for Scout. He is about 5 1/2 years old and previously lived with a cat. He is currently staying with our vet and has been doing well in doggie day care. He seems to get along fine with other dogs. We are not certain about his house training. He is up to date on his vaccinations and neutered. He seems like a very nice boy who needs a new home. He is available for fostering or adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
