About Me
Chase Dreams
Status: Fostered
Estimated Age: 4-5 Years (Est DOB 8/4/2021)
Estimated Weight: 30-31 Pounds
UPDATE - 10 MARCH 2026: Chase Dreams had to change foster homes due to no fault of his own. He is doing great in his new foster home. Here is an update from his new foster parents:
If you know Beagles, you know the nose runs the show. Chase is a scent enthusiast who treats every walk like an investigative mission.
- Master Sniffer: He loves practicing his sniffing skills. If he catches the scent of a squirrel, he’ll follow it with absolute dedication (and a few enthusiastic barks!).
- Exercise: Since he doesn’t have a fenced yard currently, he thrives on his daily walks. He is showing a happy interest in all the new people he meets along the way.
- The Foodie: While he’s polite enough to leave humans alone during dinner, he is a "food-motivated" opportunist who isn’t above a little counter-surfing if a snack is left unguarded!
- The Ultimate Coworker: Chase is the perfect companion for anyone working from home. He is incredibly respectful of your space and will leave you alone to focus on your tasks. He spends most of the workday happily sleeping nearby—no, you do not need noise cancelling headphones.
- The Best "Good Morning": Every morning when the crate opens, you’re greeted by a blurring, wagging tail. After you give him his morning snack, he'll bring his toy. It’s his signature way of saying, "Good morning! Let’s play!"
- Potty Habits: He is a potty-training superstar, going out 4–5 times a day with zero incidents so far.
- Gentle Soul: Chase is incredibly sweet-natured. While he hasn't had extensive exposure to small children yet, his foster family believes his gentle temperament would make him a great fit for a home with kids.
- Dogs: While he can be a little shy meeting new dogs on a leash, he previously lived with three other Beagles. With a slow introduction, he enjoys the company of furry siblings.
- Cats: No exposure to cats in his foster home.
"If he is happy, he’ll bring his favorite toy and ask you to play with him. It’s impossible to say no to that face!"
UPDATE - 1 FEBRUARY 2026 (from foster family): Chase Dreams is an affectionate Beagle (maybe some Bassett in there?) and an all-around awesome pup. Chase is about 90% housebroken—he does well overall but doesn’t always let you know when he needs to go outside yet.
He gets along great with our three other dogs and truly enjoys canine companionship, but he may be fine as a single dog in a home. Chase can be nervous around adult men when they are walking around the house, and we suspect this may be due to negative experiences in his past. With patience and reassurance, he continues to build confidence.
This sweet guy loves to cuddle—whether it’s with people or other dogs—and is happiest snuggled up on the couch or curled up in a lap. He enjoys chewing on rawhides and playing with soft squeaky toys. Chase rides well in the car, walks nicely on a leash, and has a charmingly clumsy way about him.
One thing to know: Chase is a bit of a counter surfer. We’ve been working on this habit, and he’s improving, but he’ll need continued training and management in his new home.
Chase Dreams is a loving, gentle dog who will thrive in a patient home ready to give him affection, structure, and a comfy spot on the couch.
UPDATE - 10 JANUARY 2026: Our Dream boy is off to a foster home today! Stay tuned as we learn how he adjusts to living in a house for, possibly, the first time!
UPDATE - 13 DECEMBER 2025: Chase went after his dream of finding his forever home today at our Adoption Day. He didn't have any luck, but we have reassured him that he has been a good boy and will find a home soon. In the meantime, we were able to get him to stand still for a second while we took a cute picture of him poking his head out of a holiday wreath.
NEW - 3 DECEMBER 2025: Chase Dreams is a social and friendly beagle boy who is good with other dogs. He came to BREW heartworm positive, so he has been going through treatment for the past several months. He has now completed his treatment and is available for fostering or adoption. Chase Dreams was originally a stray from the Dinwiddie Animal Shelter in Virginia, so his history is unknown.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
