Estimated Weight: 37 Pounds
UPDATE - 27 MARCH 2026: "I’m Flash, an older distinguished gentleman. I’m housebroken, crate trained and walk very well on a leash. My foster mom loves to cuddle with me on the couch while she does her schoolwork. I spend my days laying at my foster dad’s feet while he works on his computer. Mom says I’m a champion napper. I love most snacks. Dad tried to trick me once and give me a carrot instead of my favorite meat stick. No thank you! I get the zoomies after baths but most of the time I’m very mellow. I get along with the other two dogs and two cats in our house but honestly, I prefer being the "only child". I have a perfectly comfy dog bed in my parent’s bedroom but prefer to sleep in a laundry basket, especially if it has clean clothes in it. I’m the first to greet mom when she gets home from school each day and I have a sunny disposition most of the time."
UPDATE - 10 MARCH 2026 (from foster family): We have now had Flash for about a week. We have 2 dogs, one older male lab mix and an older female beagle. Flash immediately felt comfortable with our beagle, Muffin. He and Mikey, our lab mix, have had a few growling episodes, but both times occurred when the dogs were excited by someone at the front door. Generally speaking, I’d say Flash would be ideal with a female dog or by himself. We also have 2 cats, one short haired and one long haired. He ignores the short-haired cat completely. The younger long-haired cat and Flash are wary of each other, but I feel that will settle with time.
Flash sleeps a lot, but when he is active, he runs around and has some bouts of energy. He does like walking on a leash and is house trained. We’ve had him in a large crate when we run to the store or have to be out of the house for more than an hour, and he is fine with that. At night he wants to sleep in our bed because thats what he did with the previous owners, but he settles eventually on a dog bed or blanket in our bedroom. Last night he found his way into a laundry basket of clean clothes :).
We are working on a skin allergy, but we hope to get that healed with medication soon.
NEW - 26 FEBRUARY 2026: Flash Gordon is an older boy who was an owner surrender with Gizmo when their owner got ill and could no longer care for them. We think Flash G is Gizmo's dad. Flash is in a foster home where his foster mom says he is housetrained and uses a doggy door. He likes to sleep on the bed with her. Flash G spends most of his day napping. He is good with the other dogs in the home, as long as he has his own space; otherwise, he just grumps a little. Flash Gordon is available for adoption.
Questions?
Q: Can you tell me more about a specific dog? Is s/he good with kids / housetrained / good with cats/ etc?
A: What we know is in the write up. Our knowledge about any dog that is not in a foster homes is limited. Once approved, our adoption coordinators will work with you to match you with the right dog.
Q: Can I meet a specific dog?
A: We’re sorry, but you must be an approved adopter to meet our dogs. Pre-pandemic, dogs could be met at adoption days, but you still had to be approved to adopt from an adoption day.
Q: How can I adopt a specific dog?
A: You must submit an adoption application and be approved to adopt. You can do that under Adopt – you can also learn about the adoption process there.. It will take about two weeks for an adoption coordinator to get in touch with you. Please keep in mind that dogs that are available now may be adopted in the meantime. But we are always getting new dogs. You can see them on our website.
Q: Can I add another dog to the list on my application?
A: We don’t hold you to the dogs you listed on your application. It gives us an idea of what you are looking for. Plus it will let us know if someone is interested in one of our special needs / hard to place dogs.
Q: I indicated that I was interested in a specific dog on my application, but I see that s/he has been adopted. What happened?
A: We do not hold dogs. Applicants in the queue before you are being approved and may adopt the dog you are interested in before you are approved. But we are always getting new dogs in and your adoption coordinator will help you find the perfect match.
