Zari

About Me

NOTE: Would do best with another dog buddy in the home.

UPDATE – 26 SEPTEMBER 2021: Zari has now been in a foster home for a few weeks and is starting to come out of her shell. She joined us for our Adoption Day yesterday and is a very sweet girl – just a little timid, although she did surprising well meeting a bunch of strangers. Here is what her foster family says about Zari:

Zari can be very nervous/jumpy. She doesn’t like loud cars, school buses, construction, etc. Anything generally loud or visually exciting will cause her to try and flee. She is very afraid of thunder and lightning. She is starting to come out of her shell with us, but if we approach too fast, she will generally remove herself. She is very submissive.

She is comfortable on the leash but has an uneven pace. We are still working on house breaking. She has had a couple of chewing incidents on occasion.

Zari has demonstrated that she is very dog-oriented and often will run to Bella (our resident dog) if she is scared by something. She loves to play and has great energy for playing with other gentle dogs. We think she really should be in a house with another dog.

UPDATE – 28 AUGUST 2021: This sweet girl found a foster home today, so stay tuned as we see how she adjusts to living in a house!

UPDATE – 6 AUGUST 2021: Zari is now fully vetted and available for fostering or adoption.

NEW – 2 AUGUST 2021: Zari is a pretty beagle mix, with a cropped tail, who is sweet and friendly but submissive. She and Sancho were dropped off as strays to the Louisa County Animal Shelter in Virginia, so their histories are unknown. Zari will be available soon.
